Autism Family Support Group Launch Event

In Novenber 2023, Autism Family Support proudly launched its first project—the formation of the Autism Family Support Group—with support from Togmind and funding from the One Oldham Fund by Action Together. This initiative was created to offer carers a dedicated and welcoming community where they can connect, learn, and grow together.

To introduce our new support group, we organized an Open Day on 19th November’ 23 at the Primrose Centre, bringing together our members, their autistic children, and the wider community in a supportive, inclusive setting.

Event Highlights

• Art Activities for Children: Three talented artists led creative sessions, offering a joyful and expressive space for autistic children.
• Information Stalls: Various stalls provided resources on autism, learning disabilities, and available community support.
• Guest Speaker from Togmind: A Link Worker shared insights on autism, learning disabilities, and the importance of safety, highlighting strategies to prevent abuse and exploitation.
• Event Recording: Carvane Adab captured event highlights, later featured on their YouTube channel to expand awareness and reach.

The launch event was a resounding success, promoting awareness, community building, and a safe, supportive environment for carers and families.
