Improving the Culture of Care in Mental Health Services

Nov 23, 2024
The Culture Change Improvement Programme is a comprehensive initiative aimed at transforming the care environment across 60 providers of NHS-commissioned mental health, learning disability, and autism inpatient services. This program is designed to enhance the overall experience for patients and staff by promoting a positive and inclusive care culture.

Key goals include reducing the reliance on restrictive practices, such as physical restraints and seclusion, and implementing strategies that prioritize safety, dignity, and compassion. For staff, the program emphasizes professional development, mental well-being, and creating supportive workplace environments. By fostering collaboration between patients, families, and healthcare providers, the initiative seeks to ensure high-quality, person-centered care while driving systemic improvements across the sector.
