Celebrating Culture, Connection, and Community—Together
At Autism Family Support, we believe every family deserves a chance to celebrate life’s joyful moments in a space that feels safe, accepting, and inclusive. Our Inclusive Events and Festivals bring people together not just to have fun—but to build lasting connections, embrace cultural traditions, and create beautiful memories in a sensory-friendly environment that meets the needs of autistic individuals and their families.
We understand that public events can often feel overwhelming for children with autism—bright lights, loud music, large crowds. That’s why our celebrations are thoughtfully designed, not only with joy in mind, but with comfort and accessibility at the heart.
Our events aren’t just about activities—they’re about inclusion, understanding, and belonging. Every gathering we host is a celebration of community, where autistic individuals and their families can truly be themselves, without judgment or pressure.
Here’s what we offer:
Enjoy family-favourite films in a relaxed setting where the volume is lowered, lights are dimmed (but not off), and moving around is perfectly okay. These nights are perfect for families who’ve never been able to enjoy a cinema experience together—until now.
Forget competition—this is all about fun! We offer gentle, accessible physical activities for all ages and abilities. Think obstacle courses, parachute games, relay races, and more—all designed to encourage participation, boost confidence, and promote family bonding through movement.
Art is a beautiful outlet for expression. Our art sessions allow children to explore colour, texture, and imagination in a calm, supportive space. Their creations are often showcased in mini exhibitions—because every artist deserves to feel seen and celebrated.
We take pride in our community’s beautiful diversity. From Eid to Ramadhan, Diwali to Christmas, we honour cultural traditions through food, crafts, decorations, and storytelling—making sure every detail is sensory-considerate. We include:
Quiet zones for rest
Trained staff and volunteers for support
Simple visual schedules to reduce anxiety
Cultural foods with allergen awareness
Community-led activities that reflect lived experiences
We believe that when we celebrate each other’s traditions in a way that’s accessible for all, we don’t just raise awareness—we build bridges of respect, inclusion, and joy.
For many families with autistic children, attending a public celebration can feel impossible. The fear of being judged, misunderstood, or simply unsupported often keeps them away.
But here? You’re not just welcome—you belong.
Our inclusive events provide:
A safe and judgment-free space for families to relax
Opportunities for peer connection and social interaction
Gentle, positive exposure to diverse community traditions
A sense of belonging and shared experience
The freedom to be your full self, just as you are
Parents often tell us it’s the first time they’ve seen their child laugh freely in a crowd. That their family finally got to celebrate a holiday in a way that felt right for them. That they no longer feel alone.
These moments matter—and they’re what we strive to create.
Whether you’re lighting a Diwali lamp, enjoying biryani on Eid, painting ornaments at Christmas, or simply dancing to your favourite song—you’ll find your place with us.
Every event is open, free (or low-cost), and tailored to welcome autistic individuals of all ages, their siblings, parents, carers, and extended family.
📅 Upcoming event details are posted on our website and social media.
📍 All events are held at accessible, autism-friendly venues across Oldham.
