Are you looking for a summer programme thatβs fun, free, and focused on your childβs wellbeing?
You’re in the right place!
Autism Family Support is proud to present Healthy Minds, Happy Holidays β a joyful, four-week summer experience for autistic and neurodivergent children and young people, generously funded by the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme.
This project is specifically designed for children aged 5β16 and aims to provide meaningful, structured, and inclusive activities that support mental health, social development, and positive daily routines β all in a safe and welcoming space.
Start Date: Monday, 21st July
Running Days: Every Monday to Thursday for four weeks
Locations:
Groundwork Building, Shaw Road, Oldham (3 days per week)
Apfel Lane Community Centre, Oldham (1 day per week)
All activities are led by a trained and experienced team who understand the needs of autistic children and young people.
π§ββοΈ Welcome Circle & Feelings Check-In
Each morning begins calmly with a group welcome. Children are encouraged to express how they feel using visual supports and Makaton signs, helping to create a safe emotional space from the very start of the day.
π Active Play & Movement
Physical activity is adapted for all abilities. Younger children might enjoy sensory circuits (jumping, balancing, stretching), while older ones may go for walks, take part in team games, or fitness challenges β all designed to improve body awareness, coordination, and energy regulation.
π¨ Creative Time
This is where imaginations come to life! From crafting fidget toys to building with Lego and trying out art and design activities, your child will be encouraged to explore their creative side in a calming and structured environment.
π₯ Food Workshop & Shared Lunch
Our hands-on food sessions help children make nutritious meals like healthy wraps, fruit pots, or smoothies. We then come together for a shared lunch and discuss healthy eating habits in a fun, engaging way.
π― Hygiene & Wellbeing Games
Through play, children learn essential life skills like handwashing, toothbrushing, self-care routines, and healthy choices. Activities are interactive and age-appropriate, turning learning into a fun and memorable experience.
π€ Friendship Games & Reflection Circle
In the afternoon, we focus on social interaction and emotional growth. Children take part in team-building games that promote sharing, turn-taking, and empathy. We finish each session with a quiet circle time to reflect on the day and celebrate successes.
