Play Hub for Autism Kids (January – March)

From January to March, the Play Hub for Autism Kids provided a warm, supportive environment for autistic children and their families, fostering a sense of belonging and joy through sensory-friendly, engaging activities. Funded by Noma through Forever Manchester, this three-month initiative, organized by Autism Family Support, demonstrated our organization’s commitment to creating inclusive spaces where autistic children and their families can thrive.

At Autism Family Support, we believe in the power of community and connection for every family, especially those navigating the unique challenges and joys of raising a child with autism. The Play Hub reflected this vision by offering families a safe, welcoming space to gather, play, and build connections. Designed to cater to children’s diverse sensory needs, the Hub featured interactive stations that encouraged exploration, creativity, and social interaction. Children engaged in sensory-rich activities, including tactile play, art, and soothing light and sound displays, which supported the development of motor skills, sensory processing, and creative self-expression.

Throughout each session, trained caregivers and staff from Autism Family Support were always present to assist, ensuring a nurturing environment where everyone felt comfortable, included, and valued. Families were able to connect with others who understood their experiences, building a sense of community grounded in shared understanding and support. This network of connections extended beyond the Hub, helping to reduce isolation for families and fostering new friendships for children and parents alike.

Through initiatives like the Play Hub for Autism Kids, Autism Family Support is dedicated to creating spaces that empower autistic children, strengthen family bonds, and promote inclusion. The Play Hub was more than just a place to play—it was a community that fostered joy, learning, and connection for all involved.
